VISITORS INFORMATION RULES
MABALINGWE NATURE RESERVE - RULES
Welcome to Mabalingwe Nature Reserve. Please understand that you are in a Nature Reserve, and as such,
we have rules that all owners and visitors must abide by.
1) SPEED LIMIT AND ROAD RULES – please adhere to the posted speed limits and road signs. No off-road
driving is allowed. Animals have the right of way at all times. Please keep noise levels down on drives and
respect the right of others to enjoy the peace of the bush. All vehicles can only be driven by a person with
a valid drivers license.
2) NOISE – Noise must be kept to a minimum at all times. NO LOUD MUSIC EVER!
3) FIRES AND WOOD – No wood can be collected from within any part of the Reserve for any purpose. Fires
must be doused and completely extinguished before retiring for the night. Unprotected fires may not be
lit anywhere on the Reserve. Fires may only be lit in a braai area, built specifically for that purpose, and
must be adequately supervised. Please avoid making fires during windy periods.
IF YOU NOTICE A VELD FIRE, PLEASE IMMEDIATELY CALL THE CONTROL ROOM TO REPORT SUCH.
4) RESTRICTED AREAS – please respect the ‘no entry’ and restricted areas of the Reserve – certain areas are
restricted to Mabalingwe-registered green game drive vehicles – no other type of vehicle is allowed to
traverse these areas.
5) FIREARMS AND DRONES - The use of any firearm, air rifle, pistol, gas-propelled or powered arms, bow
and arrow, slingshot, fireworks or any other potentially hazardous or dangerous weapon, laser pointers
and the flying of drones is strictly prohibited.
6) PETS AND ANIMALS - No domesticated pets, animals, birds, reptiles, insects or fish may be brought onto
the Reserve or removed from the Reserve. No game may be sold, hunted, culled, captured or shot in the
Reserve. NO FEEDING OF ANIMALS IS ALLOWED.
7) LITTER – No litter can be left anywhere on the Reserve. All household waste must be placed in suitable
bags and left in designated areas. Everyone is encouraged to use recycling bags and bins.
8) SECURITY - Ensure that all windows are closed, and doors are locked at night or when the house is
unoccupied. Valuables should be locked away and not left in plain sight. If the house is equipped with a
security system, please make full use of such.
9) WALKING AND CYCLING - Walking and cycling are not recommended due to dangerous animals on the
Reserve. Walking and cycling will be at own risk.
10) CONTROL ROOM – to report a fire, noise complaint, incident, security concern, etc., please call the 24-
